Rosters now online

September 9th, 2009

Hi folks,

the rosters are now online as either an Excel file (.xls) if you have microsoft excel, or as a pdf file which should open for you.

They’re available from the link on the W of NSW on the front page.

Also, I can’t get this blog to send us all an email when someone posts something! Sad to say…

Kikuyu Program Delayed

August 13th, 2009

Due to rain on the treatment area, the scheduled burn for 2009 could not take place on the southernmost treatment area of the Island. This means in 2010 two areas will have to be done to stay on schedule. the seedlings will have to be potted-on into larger pots during the next few months.

Montague’s Mystery Animal

July 13th, 2009

There have been recent sightings of a mouse-sized animal on the Island. NPWS researchers believe it may be a Dusky Antechinus Antechinus swainsonii.

Tour groups have seen it, as have some NPWS staff, but no-one has been able to positively identify it as yet.

It’s a mystery!

Montague Island Up for National Tourism Award

February 24th, 2009

Friday February 27, Montague Island is up for its second National Tourism award for Ecotourism.

Up against the best of the best from each state, can Montague Island Overnight Conservation tours win for the second year in a row?

The successful partnership between Conservation Volunteers Australia and DECC - NPWS Narooma  has collected many awards over the last 4 years and this Friday at Melbourne on Crown may see further recognition of its business excellence by the tourism industry. Here’s hoping.
